Holiday message from Mayor Bowler
“Tis the Season…” I think every article should start with this at this time of year, but it is a truism!
This is the season for looking around our community and rejoicing in the positive aspects, the lights, the residents, the wonderful weather we have been experiencing and for looking forward, for many, of getting together with friends and family.
This also the season for budget. We received our first glimpse of the preliminary budget and will spend the next few weeks, and over the Christmas season, reviewing and examining the detailed amounts as presented by administration. We will then meet and discuss any issues identified by Council. We hope to keep any increases to a minimum knowing we have to start saving for our aging infrastructure. This will be a challenge for Council in the next many years.
We welcome our new Town Foreman, Dustin Aitken, to the position. We, as a Council, are greatly appreciative of the work our Town crew has accomplished in the last little while. We have managed to close off leaks from our water system that is going to increase the Town’s net revenue in that account. The staff will continue to monitor the situation through scheduled leak detection inspections.
Kudos also to the rink staff for their dedication during some trying mechanical times. I believe everything is now in working order. Thank you to Minor Hockey for stepping up to the plate and helping us with expenses for much needed equipment and a special thank you to the Costley family for the contribution to the water fountain at the rink.
I would like to close by wishing all a safe, happy holiday season and trust we will be in touch in the New Year.
Robert Bowler Mayor
