Celebrating Aboriginal Storytelling Month in February
The Gravelbourg Tot Spot will be host to a special guest storyteller at Storytime on February 7.
Madonna Hamel will be at the Chinook Gravelbourg library telling stories about animals and their significance in Aboriginal culture. She is a professional children’s storyteller of Metis heritage. “Storytelling is at the heart of First Nations and Métis experiences”. Minister responsible for First Nations, Métis and Northern Affairs Minister Jim Reiter said. “Through stories, song and performance, participants will be sharing the rich traditions of indigenous people with the entire province.”
There will be Indigenous themed food by L’Oven, as well as coffee. Storytime runs from 2:00-3:00, but people can stay and mingle and eat until 4:00 that day.
Funding for this event was made possible from the Family Literacy Grant. Tot spot and the Early Childhood Coalition are a non for profit organization devoted to bringing workshops that focus on early childhood development and the needs identified within our community
