Compost Collection Week: September 6 & 8

September 1 2022

Striking the garden? Doing a little late season landscaping? Let the Town help you dispose of your compostable materials next week. This is the last time Public Works will collect compost this year, so please take advantage of this curb-side service.

The Rules:

  • Tuesday, September 6: East side compost collection
  • Thursday, September 8: West side compost collection
  • Grass and vegetative matter only
  • No branches or or woody material
  • ABSOLUTELY NO GARBAGE
  • Please use paper bags, carboard boxes, or other containers (less than 30 gallons/136 liters) that the PW crew can easily lift and dump
  • Place your compost by the curb before 7 am on the day of collection

If you miss Compost Collection Week, no problem! The Bettez compost remains open and residents may dispose of their compost (grass, leaves, vegetations, plant clippings, etc.) there year round.

Garbage Collection Reminder

Town wide Lorass garbage collection starts on Friday, September 9. Please position your new grey garbage cart where and how you would normally place your recycling cart.

The next recycling pickup is Monday, September 12.

Please see the Public Services page for schedules, landfill hours, and other useful information about Town services.

will gravebourg ever provide an area..maybe close to the compost area..that larger limbs and branches can be disposed of after our dump closes?if not were will we be able to take them?

Public Works Manager

As part of the provincially mandated closure planning for the solid waste site (landfill) the Town of Gravelbourg will be developing plans for a transfer station to address bulk items that will not fit into the standard grey garbage cart; this includes large recyclables such as scrap metal; larger refuse pieces, and; tree limbs and branches, etc. The Town has not yet selected any potential transfer station sites, but will provide more information to residents as it becomes available.
