The Town of Gravelbourg will undergo a significant infrastructure improvement project beginning with the decommissioning and dismantling of the 1928 water tower in August 2024. The project scope includes the replacement of water mains on 1st Avenue and a portion of Bettez St, as well as sewer pipe lining and repair.
Residents and visitors may experience intermittent disruption to services and road access. We encourage those affected to sign up for Citizen Alert and monitor this page for updates. April 22, 2026: Affected residents will be notified directly via hand-delivered flyer. Please check your front door window for notices. Residents of the 100 and 200 blocks of 1st Ave E and south Somerset St may experience daytime water service disruptions on Thursday, April 23, while the contractor is replacing a valve. A PDWA will be in effect from 8:30 AM on April 23 for several days following the service disruption. The Town will notify the affected residents directly once the PDWA is rescinded and will update this page.
April 17, 2026: (UPDATED April 20) Affected residents will be notified directly via hand-delivered flyer. Please check your front door window for notices. Residents on the 300 block of 2nd E and Morin Cr, Gravelbourg Inn, IPI, and Trailtech may experience water service disruptions during the day on Tuesday, April 21. A Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory (PDWA) will be in effect for several days following service disruption. Residents of the 100 and 200 blocks of 1st Ave E and south Somerset may experience daytime water service disruptions on Thursday, April 23. A PDWA will be in effect for several days following service disruption. The Town will notify the affected residents directly once the PDWA is rescinded and will update this page.
April 16, 2026: Affected residents were notified via hand-delivered paper notices that the PDWA issued for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th blocks of Main St. ONLY was rescinded.
April 9, 2026: Bullin Construction will perform spot repair to the sewer, which requires a temporary water main shutdown at 4th Ave and Main on April 11th between 7 am and 7 pm. Affected residents and businesses should receive a hand-delivered notice of the temporary disruption to water services. Residents are advised to contact Bullin at the number on the notice if they have questions or concerns. A precautionary drinking water advisory (PDWA) will be issued for the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th avenue blocks of Main St.
April 7, 2026: Residents can expect to see construction equipment moving into town this week. The project crew will review and install isolation valves and conduct any required sanitary spot repairs. Sanitary service pipe relining is scheduled to begin the last week of April. No water main excavation expected on 1st Avenue until May. To view the complete schedule, visit the Project Plan page.

October 15, 2025: As part of the Town’s preparations for the Water Main Replacement Project, early work is underway this week (October 15–21), including sewer cleaning and four spot repairs. Here's what to expect:
September 11, 2024: Crane is traveling to Gravelbourg on Friday, September 13. Bowl lifting day & tower dismantling scheduled for Saturday, September 14, and Sunday, September 15 (if required). All work on the tower is subject to weather.
August 29, 2024: Due to weather delays and equipment availability, the dismantling of the water tower has been postponed. Please continue to monitor this page for updates.
August 26, 2024: Due to forecasted winds/wind gusts in excess of 30km/hour, the dismantling of the water tower is now tentatively scheduled to begin on Friday, August 30 (weather permitting).
August 15, 2024: Project start date has been pushed to August 22; Priestly Demolition Inc. will commence with fencing, tank drainag,e and tank preparation. Tank lifting day is scheduled for August 27 (weather permitting).
